things i didn't think about before i got knocked up, part 1: small stuff

besides the aforementioned flat feet & sore boobs, some others:

1. the warm comforting glow of the internet: everyone's pregnancy is different. if you're like me and don't know too many women who have had children, you might not know if what you're going through is "normal." (and you don't want to call your doctor every other day.) e.g. when i started getting nauseous again too weeks ago, it wasn't helpful to ask my sister, whose total experience w/ "morning sickness" in her last pregnancy was three weeks of first trimester. but hooray for google and random people commenting on blogs to let me know that while not common, or fun, pretty normal.

2. morning sickness can come back in the third trimester: wtf. really.

3. clumsiness: and nope, not clumsiness because you're like a large whale lurking through the aisles of target, but clumsiness as in just dropping everything all the time. knocking stuff over with your elbows. losing fine motor skills. whatever few you had. at the same time that bending over and picking up stuff gets a bit more challenging every week. i could try to tell myself it has something to do with joint changes, but really. my fat ass is just clumsy.

4. underwear stock: (warning: gross references coming) not the case for everyone, but i did have to get some larger pairs of underwear (see "fat ass" in #3). this was helpful bc you go through a lot of underwear. yeast infections, random unknown discharge, and peeing on yourself when you sneeze-- you get the picture. and doing laundry gets more cumbersome in later weeks. so it's just easier to have a lot of pairs on hand.

5. friends telling you that you look great: even though i always thought pregnant women looked fantastic (before i became pregnant myself), i have felt like a growing beast this entire time. and so it's very nice and helpful to have your friends tell you that you look great, esp. if your parents are like mine, who have told me nearly every week that i am getting too fat and should "watch out."

I swear, you make me laugh every time you post! To balance out the underwear laughter, I'm crying for you on the return of morning sickness--ugh!

And, btw, you do look awesome, mamacita!
